Description

Data Intelligence, LLC (DI) is seeking a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer III to support the development and sustainment of the U.S. Navy's Aegis Weapon System in Moorestown, NJ.

This position focuses on integrating cybersecurity principles and requirements throughout the systems engineering lifecycle, including system architecture, requirements development, risk assessment, verification, and integration.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience translating cybersecurity controls and technical requirements into system designs and engineering solutions. This is a systems engineering position focused on cybersecurity rather than a traditional cybersecurity operations, system administration, or compliance-only role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, analyze, decompose, and maintain cybersecurity requirements, including traceability throughout the engineering lifecycle.

  • Interpret and translate Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST SP 800-53 security controls into actionable system and functional requirements.

  • Develop and maintain cybersecurity architecture documentation, system models, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts.

  • Evaluate system designs, interfaces, and proposed modifications to identify cybersecurity risks and impacts.

  • Apply cybersecurity concepts, technologies, and security controls to system architecture and engineering design.

  • Develop verification approaches, test objectives, and acceptance criteria to validate cybersecurity requirements.

  • Support system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of cybersecurity-related engineering issues.

  • Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and prepare associated technical documentation.

  • Collaborate with software, systems, network, cybersecurity, and test engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.

  • Support technical reviews and the development of engineering documentation for complex, mission-critical systems.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance. An Interim Secret may be acceptable to start, pending confirmation.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Five or more years of related systems engineering experience, including at least two years of professional cybersecurity or cybersecurity systems engineering experience.

  • Experience developing, decomposing, managing, and tracing technical requirements.

  • Experience applying cybersecurity principles and controls to system design, architecture, implementation, and verification.

  • Knowledge of RMF and NIST SP 800-53, including interpreting security controls for technical implementation.

  • Experience using requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS Next Generation (DNG) or equivalent.

  • Experience with MBSE and modeling tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody, or equivalent.

  • Working knowledge of cybersecurity technologies and concepts, including Zero Trust Architecture, SIEM, next-generation firewalls, identity and access management, and network security.

  • Experience developing verification criteria, test objectives, or validation methods for cybersecurity requirements.

  • Familiarity with Windows operating environments and interactions between operating systems, applications, networks, and security controls.

  • CompTIA Security+ or another qualifying DoD 8570 IAT/IAM Level II or higher approved certification.

  • Ability to work independently in on-site engineering and laboratory environments.

  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, or other mission-critical systems.

  • Familiarity with the Aegis Weapon System, radar, sensors, combat systems, or complex software-intensive platforms.

  • Experience applying cybersecurity engineering principles within system-of-systems architectures.

  • Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or other Linux/Unix environments.

  • Experience supporting formal systems engineering reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR.

  • Experience preparing RMF, engineering, cybersecurity, or customer-deliverable technical documentation.

  • Background in real-time or embedded software-intensive systems.
