We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician IV to support mission-critical systems for the United States Coast Guard in Philadelphia, PA. This role involves advanced troubleshooting, installation support, and lifecycle maintenance of machinery control systems aboard naval and Coast Guard platforms, as well as at shore-based facilities.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, leadership experience, and a strong background working with Navy or Coast Guard systems, particularly in high-reliability operational environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics of machinery control systems using electrical schematics and digital multimeters
- Trace electrical signals to isolate faults and determine root causes of system failures
- Document testing procedures, troubleshooting steps, and findings in detailed technical reports
- Support installation, integration, and operational testing of control systems aboard ships and at land-based facilities
- Maintain and service machinery control system computers, including:
- Reformatting hard drives
- Installing peripherals
- Loading and configuring software
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware/software issues
- Lead and mentor junior technicians during system installations, upgrades, and maintenance efforts
- Serve as a liaison/representative at shipyards, coordinating between engineering teams and stakeholders
- Support testing and validation efforts for Navy and Coast Guard systems
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, trade/industrial school graduate, or GED equivalent
- Minimum 15 years of professional or military experience as an Engineering Technician
- Minimum 10 years of experience:
- Troubleshooting electrical systems using schematics and digital multimeters
- Diagnosing and isolating electrical failures
- Producing detailed technical documentation
- Minimum 10 years of experience with machinery control system computers, including hardware/software troubleshooting and system configuration
- Experience working with Navy or Coast Guard equipment and machinery onboard ships, cutters, or land-based facilities
- Experience conducting and witnessing installation and operational testing of machinery control systems
- Minimum 5 years of experience serving as a lead engineering technician supporting new system installations or upgrades
- Minimum 3 years of experience supporting machinery control systems for Nimitz-class aircraft carrier (CVN-68)
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a waterfront representative at civilian or military shipyards
- Active Secret Security Clearance (required)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior direct support to the United States Navy or United States Coast Guard programs
- Strong leadership and team coordination experience in shipyard or operational environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting large-scale system modernization or retrofit programs
